Worst Desktop to buy?
Worst Desktop you could invest in? In my opinion, Emachines.
![]() The worst piece of crap I have ever bought from the store. This was like 3 years ago so I didn't know much about comps and brands, and I think Emachines just came out. Real bad parts, my CD Drive went dead, my fan went dead, my memory kept on getting slower and slower. They're real cheap, no doubt about that. That was my only reason for buying it. |

Worst Desktop to buy?
I would steer clear of compaq presario's.... They're snap together machines too... Cram everything close together, use cheap parts... The used computer stores won't even take them for trade in's, when they will take a slower machine made by a better company... Personally, I'd never buy any of the snap together pre-built machines... custom building is the way to go... out of all the snap together machines, I've had the best experience with HP's... But I'd still go with a REAL computer, buy a case, a motherboard, the ram.... etc etc... if you aren't into putting the machine together yourself, buy a system at a computer store, they'll put it together for you.

Worst Desktop to buy?
Probably Gateway. I bought their desktop PC back in 2000 and within 3 months its power supply was burnt and wires were melted. I replaced it with another one but after few months the capacitors on mother board were out of order.

Worst Desktop to buy?
I agree with the original poster, eMachines has the worst quality machines on the market. My parents purchased one a few years ago and it was a nightmare to deal with. The CD-ROM drive stopped spinning about 2 months after they got it. After months of struggling the hard drive broke after another 4 months, at that point I gave up on the machine. I've seen better reliability in HP and Compaq computers.

Worst Desktop to buy?
Another vote for eMachines, followed by Compaq. My parents also bought a couple of eMachines.... god knows why.... pieces of crap. And I hate Compaq's too.. I think that the best out of the box brands are Dell and Sony in that order.

My fav. is Gateway. I've had for years and so far no problems. I am also considering to buy one of thier Laptops if I can save up some money... Hm. Did you ever ask for an exchange or refund? They are usually good about doing things like that... Anyhows, the worst computer I have to say is ---> emachines! |

yes compaq is the worst ever. my cousin bought one of those cause she was on a budget and its a total waste of money. it was really slow and couldnt handle doing more than maybe 2 things at once. and one of them was just getthing online. lol

Re: Worst Desktop to buy?
Hahaha...I've had my Emachines for almost 8 years...in fact I'm using it right now...it's been the only computer out of dozens that we've gone through that were supposed to be better or top of the line. Maybe I'm just lucky with it :P

My brother has an eMachines desktop too, and he's had no problems. In fact, it ran better than my old laptop. Maybe him and roxy are the lucky ones
![]() For worst desktop, I vote for Gateway. They are usually pieces of crap, along with most Dells. I've just had bad luck with all those. |

Re: Worst Desktop to buy?
I have never had a eMachine but I have heard nothing but terrible things about them.
I was surprise to see Gateway on here. I have heard that they have good computers. Mine is just an HP but I have had no problem the three years I have had it so far. |

Re: Worst Desktop to buy?
My first computer was an Acer. I liked it, but we couldn't upgrade. So we've gone onto other things. Right now, mine is a Cisnet. I've been able to upgrade, and haven't had that many problems.
