2nd Hand PCs?
Has anyone here bought a 2nd hand PC before? I've been looking at one and i'm
not sure if I should buy it. It's quite cheap but it's 2nd hand, it's what you would expect. I'm not sure about the condition of it completely but the seller has said it is in great condition, I don't know what his 'great condition' might meen. If it's better than what I think the word is or worse. Ure ideas? |

2nd Hand PCs?
Hi there,
Yes i bought a second hand one. Just check wether the hard drive has any bad sectors or not. Also check out the specifications before you take it from the seller. It is better to ask the seller to give you one or two months warranty, just in case something happen. I think every thing would be fine if he can give you the warranty. |

The computer I'm using right now was purchased second hand... This one through a computer store with a warranty. I'm quite happy with it. I think the warranty is up now, no problems.
I used to buy and sell used computers a couple years back. I made some money at it, learned a lot more about computers and collected a lot of neat gizmos and parts. Whenever I sold a computer, I always checked all the parts visually, and of course by plugging them in and making sure they would go. If a part had something loose on it, something looked warped or damaged, I would either just put it aside for testing purposes, or tell the buyer up front. Not everyone is that honest though. Take a look inside the machine before you buy it... if anything looks out of place, damaged, or if you can't see a damn thing inside because it's filled solid with dust then point it out and tell them to knock off a few bucks... |

I have a laptop that is second hand. I bought it for $500. It has windows 2000 on it. For the price I think I got a real good deal. I trust the guy I bought it from. He is one of my co-workers. I think that is key, knowing the company or person you are buying from.

I would never buy a second-hand computer, I'd much rather wait and save to buy a new one. Unlike what SxDxMxF said I prefer buying my computers pre-built, but then again thats probably because I'm not very familar with the insides of computers really.
