Graphics or gameplay

What is the most important for you, graphics or gameplay? Good graphics in a game is pretty cool but I preferr the gameplay. I can have a great time with old games with bad graphics.

gameplay

Gameplay is far more important Graphics.... example NBA Inside Drive has amazing 2 game play but graphics blow... Sensible soccer in the old days was the same way... Anyway while graphics on the new platforms is a given, given the budget per title at around 12 million graphics should never be the sales factor it has been in the past. Gameplay from here on out will rule, that is why games like GTA rule great story line that is somewaht non linear...

Graphics or gameplay

Well all GTA games except San Andreas were non linear. When I was playing GTA San Andreas I had the feeling: been there, seen this, done that. Missions were about the same like in all other gta games.

Graphics or gameplay

Gameplay by far is the most important thing, thats why even though i have a x box 360 i still go back and play quality games on my Dreamcast or other "ancient" systems

I think there is a miss conception

Graphics are a given in game development today you can't even get money to create a game from a publisher without high level of graphics/art... The main thing that makes a title sell today is a nugget of game play that users like. The GTA series is one of the few titles with weak ass graphics that sells. Main titles rely to heavy on the visuals and fall short on game play. With all of the great engines out there for developers to use like gamebryo, unreal, cryengine, steam engine developers should not fall short on the graphics end anymore, and if they do there titles should not be purchased...

My 2 cents:drink1:

Re: Graphics or gameplay

Definately gameplay but, certianly graphics are important to me if it is a character driven game. I would always choose gameplay though, otherwise, whats the point?

Re: Graphics or gameplay

I would definitly say gameplay is more important. Yes the graphics nowadays are awesome. But you can have great graphics and the gameplay is terrible. And in a case like that then the game is not going to get played much, so the great graphics won't even matter if I'm not playing the game.

Re: Graphics or gameplay

I can play an old "stood the test of time" game at max graphics and it can look the same as a brand new buggy game at minimum graphics. Not to mention that I can buy about 10 good old games for 1 new untried game.
I will turn the graphics down if the game jumps or lags in any way.
Gameplay forever.

Re: Graphics or gameplay

As someone who regulary plays old adventure games from the 90's i'd pick gameplay every day.

Graphics are nice to look at, but a **** game is still **** if it looks like an angel.

Gameplay. I will always go with gameplay over graphics. But when the two meet its like peanut butter and chocolate.

Gameplay is much more important. Graphics are just an added plus. If I just wanted graphics, I would buy a movie.

Re: Graphics or gameplay

I'll definitely go for gameplay. No matter how sucky the graphics look in a game, I'll still play it if it makes my imagination run.
