Who is playing Final Fantasy XII

Is anyone else here playing FF 12? I am about 30 hours into it. That includes a ton of side quests. I love the gambits system, not too wild about liscensing, but overall I think the game is phenomenal.

I agree with the licensing headache. Like FFX, I think the game designers over thought it. I mean, do people really like sidetracking their enjoyment of playing out the storyline by spending twenty minutes at a time configuring a leveling-up system that, in the end, tends to not actually making an experience difference?

It is hard to not be impressed with XII. The visuals are top notch. The voice acting is well chosen and not a liability to scenes. The animation, while certainly plagued with typical gaming animation cycles, is still above average, and the music is both retro and new at the same time. The political talk about the different power pushers and nations seems to be a bit too overbearing often, but I understand that fans of other types of RPGs like that sort of thing. Being a FF and Dragon Quest sort of RPG fan, I find the talk boring and (sometimes) pointless to the central personal conflict of the characters.

In my household---okay, small apartment in CA---the FFXII has gone its rounds and, while not my favorite among the FF franchise, it is a recommendable experience in my nonexistent gaming book.

I will be, once it gets released in the UK. That said, I'll have to wait until the summer before I get a proper chance to play it, I suspect

Re: Who is playing Final Fantasy XII

I'm about 55 hours in after several side hunts, missions, etc.

I've really enjoyed it.

The licensing system doesn't bother me at all, although I haven't really gotten into anything except basic gambit configurations and low level techniques.

Pulling off a chain of Mist abilities is mighty satisfying though.

As soon as I can tear it away from my son, I am going to play it. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Who is playing Final Fantasy XII

Got to the end after probably completing 80-85% of the game, average level of 65.

Only main problem with the ending is by the time you've got to that level, the marks you're fighting are far harder than the bosses in the main story line.

I'll go back to my last save and complete as much of the rest of the game that I can.
