Can Left-Handers Survive the Wii?

There has much talk about the new controller set up introduced with the Wii, most of which (aside from the recall) were positive.

There has been a detail missed by me until I overheard a conversation in a gaming store today. While there checking out the used section, I eavesdropped a customer's question in regards to the difference between Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on Gamecube and on the Wii. Since it is a technically just a ported game from the Gamecube, the Wii version should be pretty much identical....right?

I understand that the major difference between them is that the gameplay has been mirrored on the Wii because Link has traditionally been represented as a left-handed character. In Twilight Princess (Gamecube version), Link swings the sword with his left hand. It had to be flipped in the Wii version because Nintendo feared that right handers---the majority of the market---would find the action cumbersome.

Interesting fact, but it brings about an important question for me, a left hander: What about the rest of us? Are left hand dominate gamers at a disadvantage on the Wii?

I never thought about that, hopefully they'll get a controller out for those that are left handed, not sure how many people are left handed gamers, though I'm sure it's a fairly decent percentage to exclude

speaking as a left hander, the controls are designed to be equally playable with either hand, and all the games I've played so far have given the option to switch hands.
As for whether its harder for a left hander to win vs a right hander... I win more than half of the competitive games we've played on the console.

How is this left handed saga working out? I myself am right handed...but my girlfriend is left handed so it could become annoying for her.

You can play it left handed. I know for WiiSports you can change the settings to either right-handed or left-handed play. My boyfriend is left-handed and has no problems.

I know a couple of my friends are left handed and they have never said anything about having problems as of yet.

In Zelda they made him a right handed character instead of left handed as before. However when playing as a lefty the only difference is cosmetic, his swings cover the same area.

I've never thought about this... now I feel so terrible o_o;
It must have been tough for lefties back in the gamecube days with button mashing..

I'm not left-handed, but my brother is. When he plays Super Smash Brothers Brawl, he uses the Wii mote (He doesn't like the gamecube controller). But when you hold it sideways to work for your left hand, the controls are flipped. He gets really mad about that.
