Sega Dreamcast - best console ever?
Well, its certainly a possibility.
The Dreamcast was Sega's most recent attempt at a games console, and was, I think, their best. I never played a SNES, though ![]() The Dreamcast was the first console to ever have online compatibility, including the first ever online sports game (NHL2k1), and the graphics were miles ahead of anything else availiable at the time. Certainly significantly out-dated now (the last title was released in 2002), but at it's peak, there were some wonderful games, that are still worth playing now. Top of that list is the sublime "PowerStone" - wonderful in both single and multi-player. Of course, it's not really the best console ever, but I think it's excellent, and was certainly helped by some really great games.

Re: Sega Dreamcast - best console ever?
The SNES was a wonderful machine. SOme of the best games ever (Super Mario World, Link to the Past) came out on that machine.
That been said, the Dreamcast had it's share of decent games - Shenmue, Soul Caliber, Skies of Arcadia etc. The problem was it was killed by the PS2 which was backwardly compatible, had better marketing and more games. It was also the easiest console in the history of consoles to run pirate games. They over relied on the GD-Rom and it was very quickly circumvented with a boot disk (no chipping required). |

Re: Sega Dreamcast - best console ever?
The Dreamcast is still by far my favourite system. Adding to the above games, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Grandia 2, and Soul Calibur.
I don't play it as much, because even if it's great pound for pound, it's still almost a dead system. On a side note: the 'almost' had some value there. Over in Japan, they're still developing some games, unfortunately, they aren't to be ported to Canada/NTSC.
