Re: The Pope finds Video Games as a "Perversion."

I always watch what my kids are playing. I do use the rating as a guide but I usually rent the game and try it out first because I have found the ratings a little off. I am sorry but maybe he should look at his own problems within the church before he condems others for things.

That's good that you go as far as to test drive the games for your children. Most parents won't take the time and want to blame anything if their child does something wrong.

I'm very careful about what I let my kids play, and watch on TV, for that matter. I know they're impressionable, and therefore am aware of what they're doing. I also don't allow them free access to the internet. That may seem old-fashioned, I think it's good parenting.

Well done, England tried the approach of no restriction or discipline, hence the all time high in juvenile crime.

I actually sort of miss the days my brother was only interested in the assigned Kids part of the internet. We had it especially done for him, even though it was supposed to just be a restriction, he liked it.
Kids nowadays just do what they want and learn too much too soon.

I agree about the internet. My boys don't get on it by themselves at all yet. But you can bet when they do it will be where I can see them and have a filter installed.

If I had kids, I probably wouldn't expose them to the internet until they were about 10 or so, and even then, have it filtered. Not necessarily that they'd find anything, but you never know who would find THEM. Yikes.
