First PC game?
What was the first PC game you ever played? Mine was probably a really old DOS based game and the first one I can remember playing a lot and clearly was a game called Skifree. You would ski down a mountain and at the end a snowman would always eat you. That's about it hah.

Re: First PC game?
My first ever game was RM2
I think its been re-released as Rolemaster Classic. If it is the same one I remember, it involved a character made of about 9 pixels trying to reach a door or a key, and shooting enemies with a spread gun (3 pixel shot). |

Re: First PC game?
I don't remember my first game, but first impressive game in my life was WarCraft2, and Unreal Tournament after that

Re: First PC game?
My first PC game.....ever? Jeez, I must hang my head and admit that it was either Oregon Trail or Number Munchers.
Does anyone even remember Number Munchers? It was back on the ACTUAL floppy disc days (the ones where you had to be careful to not dirty the little exposed film in them).

Re: First PC game?
My first PC game was some DOS program meant to entertain young children (since I was 3 at the time). The other ones I remember are some casino game (California Dreamin' I think), Family Feud, and Sesame Street.

Re: First PC game?
I also remember playing Jazz JackRabbit (like Sonic the Hedgehog but with a mean green bunny!) and Jill of the Jungle back in the mid 90s when we got our first home computer...
I wish I could recall the games I used to play at other people's house...one was where you were on an island travelling around talking to pirates and looking for stuff...another was kind of scary and you were in graveyards and a castle and talking to spirits and I think there were vampires (that helps narrow it down? haha)...it had very good graphics for its time. The last one was a weird game based on ChupaChup lollipops and moved fast paced like Sonic too. Any ideas what I might be talking about? |

Re: First PC game?
I think the first game I ever played was Captain Comic, for DOS.
Some golden oldies include the Commander Keen series, Monkey Island 1, Space Quests I+, King's Quests I+, Police Quests I+... All games were hardcore with instant death rules, not like these days! X-Wing was another uber-hard game, so realistic that if you died in a mission, you couldn't load back - at all. Your pilot would be dead and you'd have to start the whole game over, even if you'd played weeks and weeks to the final deathstar run. Hardcore indeed. |
