graphics card help needed
My nine year old brother is desperate to play Lego Bionicle Heroes but our elderly P.C just isn't up to it. Error message says the graphics card needs to support pixel shaders 1.1.
Can't afford an expensive graphics card or new P.C. Can anyone suggest a really cheap card that is compatible with our machine and will run the game? The only technical deatail I have about the machine is AGP 66/133Mz, VGA. and we have Windows XP. The game gives min requirements as "DirectX 9.0c compatible cards with 64MB ram, supporting vertex shader 1.1 and pixel shaders 1.1." I know little about computers (as I'm sure you can tell) so any help would be gratefully received!

Re: graphics card help needed
You could just find an old Geforce2 AGP card with at least 64MB onboard RAM on ebay. As far as i know any gfx card with 64mb should support vertex and pixel shaders. The cheapest i think is the geforce2 mx series, although I personally wouldn't use one since you get what you pay for (ie, not much).

Re: graphics card help needed
For an example on prices, the cheapest I could find on ebuyer was about £20, and this is a 128MB card, twice what you need. ebuyer.com - Graphics Cards » Graphics Cards Nvidia » nVIDIA GeForce FX 52/55/5700 » Product details
I strongly recommend finding out what model your motherboard is and seing if it has an upper limit on the type of graphics card it will support though. You can pick up powerful microATX boards these days for around £20-£30 at electronics shops. Many have onboard VGA which may even support that game without an external card. |
