Favorite Books?
Has anyone read any good books recently? It's been a while since i've read one, but I like pretty much everything by Tom Clancy and John Grisham.

Re: Favorite Books?
To be honest I haven't read a book in a long long time...except for school of course.

Re: Favorite Books?
I like weird vintage children's books. My favorites are Phantom Tollbooth, Rootabaga Stories, and Dreams of A Rarebit Fiend. I also love the PostSecret series.

Re: Favorite Books?
I've read a few Clancy and Grisham books. I'm mostly into Terry Pratchett, Mark Robson, Ian Irvine, R.A. Salvatore, and Piers Anthony at the moment.

Re: Favorite Books?
I am an avid reader. My favorites would have to be Dean Koontz and Tom Clancy. But I really read a ton of others that I enjoy also.

Re: Favorite Books?
I read everything I can get my hands on!
I really love stuff by John Irving, especially "A Prayer for Owen Meany." Nabokov's "Lolita" is one of my favorites as well, along with Milan Kundera's "The Unbearable Lightness of Being."

Re: Favorite Books?
I have never read John Irving. But a friend of mine loves his books. I think I will try one since I see it was brought up on here also. I am always looking for new authors to read.

Re: Favorite Books?
I haven't read anything by John Irving, either. But, then I haven't had much of a chance to read for pleasure lately. Most of the reading I've been doing has been associated with my homeschooling my kids. Maybe this summer, maybe this summer. *sigh*

Re: Favorite Books?
Homeschooling really is learning along with the kids, isn't it? Some of my favorite books are from my school-age days, though. For example, have you read the book Caddie Woodlawn? I love it.

Re: Favorite Books?
No, FourBear, I haven't read the book Caddie Woodlawn. Who is the author, and what is it about? I might be interested, but haven't heard of it.
And, yes, homeschooling is like learning with the kids. I just hope they develop a love for learning like I have.

Re: Favorite Books?
I'm currently reading the Dark Tower series from Stephen King. I'm on the third book, The Wastelands. So far it's a pretty good series. It will be interesting to see how different the last books will be considering he wrote them across a 20 year span or so.

Re: Favorite Books?
Just off the top of my head, the following are among my favorite books in no specific order:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Ill Met in Lankhmar by Fritz Leiber
All of them are great examples, and I highly recommend them.
