Broken GameCube

My gamecube is broken.the light lights and the fan works but nothing shows up on the tv.i got the gamecube from my friend since he didnt know anything about electronics.is there supposed to be a menu like on the ps2 or does it just launch the game? well if you know how to fix this u know what to do

Sounds like an A/V issue. Check to make sure the cord with the white/red/yellow cables is properly plugged into your television. If still nothing happens, try getting a new video cord.
