xbox live trouble

I recently bought a 360 maybe like 2 weeks ago and im having trouble with xbox live. Can it connect wirelessly to my router? or do i need to run a cable from all the way upstairs to my router in the closet. i was going to buy the network adapter but if ther is any way to do this wirelessy for free i would like to know.

they sell a wireless adapter for the 360 look around but its not free its probally alot of money i dont know but look around

The Xbox 360 isn't wireless out of the box. You need to buy a peripheral called the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter, which slots in the back of the console. This device is needed if you want to connect to Xbox Live Wirelessly. It is a hefty price, and MAKE SURE that you router is a compatible model, check on the Xbox website for the list of routers.
