Most ancipated MMOs of 07
If you're a big MMO fan as I am, you'll know there are several MMOs coming out (mostly in Q2) of 2007. I'm anxious to see who will be playing what and what games have the best outlook. My personal opinions on the "biggest":
World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade - Unfortunately, I think WoW is not going to be de-throned so easy. I think BC will still be the biggest MMO of 07.. but here's hoping some people will start to move on. It's just too much of a grindfest in my opinion. Age of Conan - The game I think looks most promising. The developers are very communicative with the community - always a plus on my end. And PvP? It has 3 types for goodness sake! There will also be guild run towns (which can be raided by NPCs at any time), siege combat, PvP rewards, and nearly double the amount of classes WoW has. Warhammer Online - Promising, but the videos of the RvR (realm vs realm) looks... dull and awkward, to say the least. However, it's still in Beta! It has interesting pvp concepts (RvR being one of them). Haven't followed up on it that much. Darkfall Online - Has been in beta for several years, which kind of deterred me from following up on it. However, the game does have a really excellent concept (if they ever go through with the project already :rolleyes with alot of freedom. And when I say freedom, I mean you can climb mountains with no inaccessible areas freedom :P Every aspect of the game has a sense of freedom. For example, there are no classes - if you wish to be a swordsman simply use a sword a lot. There is no leveling either. There ARE however, prestige classes that add flavor with a few tradeoffs, which adds to the uniqueness/fun of it. Vanguard - I've heard a lot of problems about the stability of the game and the mediocrity of the graphics for the system requirements. Personally, I haven't followed up on it, but the developers do seem to share an honest insight with MMOs in general and that I can appreciate. Huxley - An MMOFPS. While little is known about Huxley's gameplay, it's expected to be a bit like Planetside yet more tactical. The game will have vehicles and an array of weapons which haven't been made public as of yet. "Battle experience" is similiar to an MMORPG leveling system as I take it. Basically if you like FPS or Planetside this is definitely a game to check out. What do you guys think? |

I have to disagree with WoW being the biggest MMORPG. Take heed to FFXI. Allthough the game is a bit old. SquareEnix has release 3 Expansion Packs. Rize of the Zliart, Chains of Promathia, And Treasures of Aht Urgan. With more than 20 servers and an average of 4000 Players on each of those server at any given time of day. I have to say FFXI is one of the most, if not the most played 3D MMORPG.
Also I think Stormreach and Turbine will come out with some new expantion for DDO (Dungon and Deagons online) I never really got into the game but it looked cool. I will say this tho, WoW is a good game, the crafting is MUCH easyer than FFXI, And as any good MMORPGer would tell you crafting is a key element to games such as wow and ffxi, however, i find the FFXI battle system perfect. WoW is a bit complicated. I mean you get 10 keys to assign skills, items, spells to. after you get toa higher level that could be a pain. |
