Wii still for kiddies?

Over the years most of the nintendo consoles were wether it was delibrate or not, very kiddy like. A lot of the games and feel etc were targetted towards the younger generation, which is starkly different from XBOX who targets the 20 - 30 yr old crowd. Do you think the Wii still suffers from this kind of image?

I don't think so, In my opinion Nintendo has kinda grown up with the Wii - I'm guessing even they are a bit surprised by how well it has taken off.

Definately not.

I think ever since the DS people have slowly realised that they're reaching out to a much wider audience.

And now, with the Wii I think they can expand the audience even more

not at all! it is more interactive gaming. with the way you play, you want fun games. not gta on it, but fun games! depends how you look at it really but it is for all ages.

Re: Wii still for kiddies?

I think it has, at least a little.
Since the Wii is a Nintendo console, it's got all the younger generation games under it's belt (for example... Mario Sunshine *shudder*). People compare the softness of the Wii with the xbox360, and they sorta look down on it because the 360 is so much "cooler" and "sharper".

It's depressing, but I'm starting to feel like this too. Whenever I see the wii-sports disc in the corner of my game cabinet, I'm like "...why?".

Nah, I think the Wii is meant for everyone. Check out some of the games, some are for older people, some are for young people, and some are for both. I also read somewhere the Wii was originally designed as a exercise thing.

Re: Wii still for kiddies?

nobody is suffering, i promise. there is no point in targeting a market that is already secure. they did a fantastic job by making games targeted at kids that are still fun for adults (spinoff from movies that are the same way like the shrek series) xbox can't steal nintendos target market, kids cant buy those games and most parents wouldn't want their kids playing them. nintendo is and has done a phenomenal job in this area.

Depends.. I really like the interactive aspect of it.. regardless that the games aren't similar to what is found on XBOX or PS3

Don't know. Kids like to move around so much, now they can do it on the Wii.
It can be fun for anybody, but for kids. Its a lot of fun.

Its for kiddies and nooby gamers that's it.

Ps3 is versatile. Ps3 ftw.

Xbox360 is strictly online gameplay... Because it sucks without xbox live.

Re: Wii still for kiddies?

Well I have a Wii (Well technically it's my dogs...don't ask) and a PS3. Out of the two, I play the PS3 more, not beacause I don't like the Wii, it's just that it doesn't have that "one" game that keeps you coming back for more...Or atleast I don't. I do have to agree with Tomoslow, expect the Wii is more family-orented.
I've said it countless times, and I'm saying it again; Everyone has a different taste in games.

Re: Wii still for kiddies?

People try using a few games like no more heroes and RE4 to back up the wii.

Its still for kids and nooby gamers.

You guys forget this is nintendo. and E rated games are usually for kids.
