Nvidia hands down its Nvidia , Radeon and ati have to many issues , like if a new games comes up the graphics card you payed for a few months ago wont handle the game , where with Geforce thay have updated to help you play the latest game , i have a gefore 6600 LE 256MB and it will play any game out at the moment with out any issues.

I would recommend nVidia cards. I cannot predict which is the best card in a series though. In this fast moving world, a person buying the latest card and calling it the best is interrupted by a person having another latest version of the series.

Its best to go with a graphics card you're sure that'll fulfill your needs atleast for 2 years. Buying a good card is many a times, heavy on the pocket.

I've been using my Radeon x1600 PRO happily for several months now..and it does pretty well for what I want. The thing is, it specializes in shader-heavy games (such as Oblivion) and doesn't match competing Nvidia cards in raw power. The only reason I got it instead of something better, actually, is my PC is kind of old-school and doesn't have PCI-e. The x1600 pro is the only one I could find to fit my budget and my AGP slot..
