FFVII: Dirge Of Cerberus
Another spin-off of Squarenix's flagship masterpeice. And a great additon in the highly acclaimed FFVII Compilation.
This game happens to take place three years after the events in FFVII and one year after those in FFVII Advent Children. It follows the path of uber-cool, transforming, vampire-esque Vincent Valentine. In this story crimson-clad Vincent is caught up in the war being fought between WRO (The World Restoration Organization) and a secret army known as DeepGround. The WRO are pretty obvious. They are a collaboration of men and women dedicated to restoring the world to its natural state, headed by Reeve, and aided by the main characters from FFVII. DeepGround is private army that has hidden its presence for many years and was Shinra's dark secret. Headed by a quint of really cool villians, who look badass. As such, he is enlisted by WRO to help them defeat DeepGround and restore order. Besides having a very good story, the game also dazzles with nifty graphics, and sports surprisingly emmersive gameplay. It's part RPG and FPS. Something that i had doubts about Squarenix's ability to pull off, but, low and behold, here is Dirge Of Cerberus. The fruit of their labors. And a very tasteful sitting at that. The game offers around 12 hours of gameplay, with 12 missions to complete. And the CGI movies make the experience even better. They're really, really cool. Another interesting note about the story is that delves deeper into the man we know as Vincent Valentine. It tells about his past, when he worked for the Turks, about his relationship with Lucretcia, Sephiroth's mother, and how he became what he is. At one point in the game you even get to take control of FFVII's oddest character, Cait Sith. That's right, FFVII's moogle riding, english-accented, bipedal feline is back. Probably the most innovative aspect of the game is the customization options you have for Vincent's triple-barreled death dealer, Cerberus. You can optimize almost everything about his gun. The size of the barrel, the stock, scopes, melee attacks, designating it a handgun, machine gun, or rifle, you can even add materia which take the form of bullets in this FF incarnation. Responsive controls, fun battles, and challenging enemies, monsters, and bosses, this game rocks. Another feature any FF fan will drool over is the very cool option for Vincent to transform into one of his alter-ego personas he is so famous for. The story also centers around his most diabolical metamorphesis, Chaos. I won't spoil anything here, but know that it is very intriguing. In short, this game is a must have for any FF fan, and if anything else, it's a seperation from what Squarenix usually servse us, and it's worth a rental. Try it, buy it, and enjoy the fun. |

Sounds really fun. I had a friend who said he bought and played it, but said it wasn't up to par with regular FF games. He said it was still addicting though.
Too bad I don't own a PS2 or I'd buy this game. The FF7 world is one of the best storylines out, so naturally I'd love to play this game. |

Psst, you know what would be really awesome? A FF7 remake on PS3, with voices and amazing graphics and whatnot. Have you seen the FF7 intro movie that's supposedly with PS3 graphics? |
