Amd Vs Nvidia thread

Hello guys as you all know that amd has acquired ati . This thread shall be dedicated to amd (ati) vs nvidia gfx card discussions.

Let me make an introductory note on the same.

For years ati cards have had the advantage of better image quality than their nvidia counterparts. Nvidia in turn had better driver support than ati all these years. Ati's driver support for linux especially has been very poor. Its pc frontend catalyst control center has resulted in slowdowns on computers.

When it comes to performance both are neck to neck . With game companies sometimes optimizing games for a particular company ex. doom 3 nvidia /ati half life 2
it has become very difficult for users to select a company's card. untile recently ati had a slender lead albeit it had a higher power consumption and a noisy fan to go against it.
Nvidia has taken an early lead with the launch of 8800 series cards which support dx10 but so far no vista dx10 drivers have been released for the cards.

Amd (ati) will soon launch its own series of dx10 cards which will be more powerful than the current 8800gtx series cards but that peformance comes with increase in power consumption.

So folks the stage is set another next gen battle this time for dx10 cards.

I've always been with Ati and AMD products so this won't make any difference to me..I'm actually pretty glad the two joined. I haven't had much luck with NVidia or Intel products, so I think I might be sticking with Ati and AMD for a while.
