DragonFable

I was doing some surfing and came across this free online game called DragonFable. It's okay, but not what I would prefer to spend time doing. My son, however, things it's great.

Has anyone else played the game, and is there anything in it that I need to be concerned about? Thanks!

Re: DragonFable

I've heard of it, and have even checked the site out, but I didn't find it enticing enough to join.

Re: DragonFable

I'm guessing it's really geared more toward younger teens, not those that are into serious gaming. Thanks for at least taking a look at it.

No problem! It actually looks pretty complex and in-depth. It could be a great game, but just not my type.

Timing is everything, I suppose, because I checked out that online game last night. After signing up, building a character, and playing around a bit, it is safe to say that the contents of the game is quite suitable for younger players, and you have nothing to worry about.

I agree with others that this game is meant for the rpg novice or younger player as far as challenge and structure goes, but I had noticed some tongue-in-cheek inside puns toward traditional turned-based games in general, and, perhaps, that will help more weathered players of the genre to give Dragon Fable a chance. It is free, after all.

Speaking of the concept of free, there is only one concern I have for the parent out there. Be prepared to have your child, if he/she does start to play it on a regular basis, to ask you to pay for an upgrade. In hopes of making some money, Dragon Fable offers character upgrades that are only available for purchase, not aquired by in-game point earning.

Re: DragonFable

I had seen something about the upgrades on the main page, but wasn't sure what they were. Are they expensive, or just a way for the host sites to make some money to help pay for the bandwidth?

Well, I find the upgrade options far too expensive for me, someone with only passing interest for the site. I suppose it is relatively reasonable for someone digging the game.

Essentially, the site offers two different plans. The first is twenty bucks and includes an Amulet (which I am going to only assume is a powerful item to have), 200 Dragon Coins, and the ability to create more than three characters. The second, for thirty bucks, increases the amount of characters, amulets, and Dragon Coins in the bargain.

I haven't played enough to see either offer particularly alluring.

Re: DragonFable

dragonfable is OK but adventure quest is the sister version of it and it's 10 times better, the site is called battleon then (dot com)
