Question WiFi Max for Wii

I've been struggling with setting up a WiFi connection from my PC to my Wii for internet sharing.
If you believe the manual it's a case of "Install drivers, plug it in, and wahey!"
It's more like "install drivers, plug in, attempt connection, uninstall and reinstall, place the Wii and PC next to each other, close all security, share all connections, play with IP configurations, threaten both with physical violence, go and play guitar instead."

Now, my Wii can see the wireless network, it will claim that the connection test worked, it will ask to download the update. Then it will sit there indefinately. I left it with all the default settings which should work, running overnight updating. the progress bar was still in the same place the next morning.
Signal strength very good, connectivity good, both can see the network, Wii tests connection good, as soon as it tries to download anything... nothing.

Help!

Re: WiFi Max for Wii

Aha! Aparently based on default configuration, a Wii will assume it is connected to a DHCP server, so default settings will not allow a static IP address. I just alter the settings manually, assign an IP address that isn't already being used, and it works!

Although while figuring that out I've probably seen every Wii error screen ever designed.

Re: WiFi Max for Wii

I didn't know you could do that with a Wii. Of course, I haven't gotten one yet, so I don't have any ideas what you can do with it.

Re: WiFi Max for Wii

Getting the Wii to connect to WiFi can be a pain sometimes, but thankfully I haven't had much of a problem. Just lucky, I guess!
