Multiple Console Setup
Hello. I have a question I was hoping someone could help me out with...
I have 2 playstation 3's and 2 xbox 360's (and sometimes three when my friend comes over). I have run into many networking issues with them conflicting with each other. I have read forum posts saying that when setting the xbox's up together, you have to port forward to one xbox and set the other up in the dmz (and give them BOTH static ip addresses). I have read forum posts about the ps3 indicating the same thing (but for the ps3's). I have one 4 port netgear wireless router and one 4 port hub. The hub is next to my consoles and the router is in my office with me 3 computers. Now, to the question: I am looking to buy a new router and a new hub/switch because I feel the ones I have just aren't cutting it. I have about $250 to budget to the them. What would you recommend that I get for these things? I have a printer, a VOIP phone, two computers, 2 or 3 xbox 360s, 2 ps3's and a wii. What should I get that would allow them ALL to be plugged into the network and work toghether smoothly? and how should I configure them (static/dynamic, dmz, port forward, etc?) The only stipulation is the budget and the fact that the router needs to stay in the office (next to the cable jack) and the hub/switch in the living room. Btw, my internet is 1500/768 cable (not that it really makes a difference). I'de appreciate thoughts on this... I've gotten a lot of mixed feedback across other forums and haven't really found anything describing my exact sittuation. |
