Maybe Your Router Will Work
One of the biggest complaints in regards to the Nintendo DS is its surprisingly limited compatibility with various wireless routers. In fact, one can take a gander at the growing list of wireless routers known to not be compatible with the system on the DS section of Nintendo's homepage.
But the connection status may not be as bleak as they state. Take in consideration my personal example: My wireless router is Belkin Wireless G Router, version 6002. This router, according to Nintendo's site, is not compatible with the Nintendo DS. It is compatible, however. The underlining problem with Belkin (and presumably some other wireless routers) is that it may not be preset correctly. The Belkin Wireless G is set to Channel 11 through automatic set-up. The Nintendo DS AND the Nintendo Wii can only find hot spots and/or connect to these hotspots that are located on Channel 1. If you have had problems with connecting your Nintendo DS (or your Nintendo Wii for that matter) to your wireless router, try manually setting up your settings for your router, which may include reinstalling the software to get to those options again, so that it is set on Channel 1.
