PC Gamepad Suggestions?

I'm looking to buy a new PC gamepad. I've been just getting cheap ones, but I've decided I want one that's not going to die so fast. Could anyone suggest a good gamepad?

The main things I'm looking for are
1. durability (I don't want it to break within a few months)

2. a good D-pad. One of the problems I've noticed with the gamepads I've tried before is that their D-pads don't provide separate resistance for all eight directions, so if you hold down left, they freely slide to upper left and lower left. This makes them very difficult to use since you end up holding down a direction you don't mean to.

I'm not too big on recharging a wireless gamepad, so wired is fine for me.
