There isn't a lot of girls on games because girls don't like violence they like something that can get them into reality, guys play games to get out of reality, to pass time, not to be disturbed, girls love to socialize so they go on facebook or msn.

the only game i've ever seen a female play is singstar ( not that i play it , i recently inherited it through a phone deal).

so what other games do the ladies play???? i reckon girs vs boys on call of duty would be fun :-)

my GF is way more into games then me she loves them and gets into them alot more lol. and shes fricken hot XDD anyway i know quite a few gril gamers that are into games way mroe then guys.

I'm a girl, and I love playing video games, it's kinda my life,
But I think other girls don't see it as a girl thing to do, and it doesn't look fun to them.
But now, we have games like Rock Band, and Guitar Hero, and all of the kiddy Wii games, so the number of girls that play games has actually gome up.
But what sucks is that the ones that only play like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, get good at it, and actually consider themselves gamers...

i know a few girl gamers and even have 1 im my css clan and tbh shes just as good as most of the males also on the via servers i play on there is a few female gamers on there too

i think the reason you see more male gamers is based more on sexism from way back when. I can't really speak for other countries but in America most industries were started by men back when women were no more than property. Most older video games have a man as the focal point. If this situation were switched, say a woman was the main character of most games you would probably see more girls gaming than guys. Most guys don't play games where you can only play as a girl, or at least they don't get into it as much. Games that are coming out are now putting in the option to be male or female and build you character accordingly. Another thing with the sexism of old is many older woman still have a little of that "we are here to serve the man" mentality drilled into them and focus on being the housewife. Obviously not as extreme as it once was but with each generation that mentality dies a little more. So hopefully there will be more girls joining the ranks online in the near future. Then we can truly test if guys are better than girls....(still can't post smilies...)

the better question... are these girls that play video games casual gamers or hardcore? because i know ppl that call themselves gamers but the only game they have ever touch was halo or guitar hero... to me, thats not a gamer, or rather no where near a hardcore gamer with at least 20 games under his/her belt.... i think exposing casual and hardcore is much more a fulfilling because there isnt as much about gender as there is simple habit and enjoyment. the whole gender thing has too many factors... most girls that i know who play games either had brothers, grew up without lots of friends, or are simply insane... (speaking only from my own experiences)...

You have a point. But it really doesn't matter if they are casual or hardcore, they are still gamers and they still do play video games. Girls being gamers are actually cool but I prefer them not being hardcore
